Kobila granted an audience to some executive members of the Cameroon Indigenous Women Forum (CAIWOF) at the Commission’s Head Office on Friday
27 October, 2023.

James MOUANGUE KOBILA, Chairperson
of the Cameroon Human Rights Commission (CHRC), has promised to strengthen
cooperation with the Cameroon Indigenous Women Forum (CAIWOF) in the
preparation of a
National forum on the role of new technologies and innovations in the promotion
of gender equality and empowerment of women, which will be organised from 29 to
30 November 2023 in Yaounde.
He made this promise during a one-hour audience granted to the Cameroon
Indigenous Women Forum (CAIWOF) on Friday 27 October 2023 at the audience room
of the CHRC. The meeting with the delegation of three persons which was led by Madam Bouba Aeisatu, Executive Director of that
association aimed at sharing information concerning major areas of cooperation
between the CHRC and the CAIWOF.
During the audience Madam Bouba Aeisatu, discussed the on-going
preparations towards the forthcoming National forum. She mentioned that this
forum will be opened to all women and will enable them to recognize the value
of integrating this new technology in their respective careers in order to
lessen the violations of the rights of women in the society. She also requested
the services of the regional branches of the CHRC in carrying out restitution to
raise awareness in the urban and rural areas throughout the national territory.Madam
Bouba expressed particular interest in the recommendations of the November’s Universal
Periodic Review and express the desire to work hand-in-hand with the Commission
on their vulgarisation and implementation. She equally solicited her
organisation’s involvement in some important activities and training workshops
organised by the CHRC.
The Chairperson who was quite delighted to receive the
association, appreciated the idea of empowering women in the use of the new
technology and also drew the attention of the association to the need for
educating women and girls on the laws relating to cyber-crimes and especially
on the participation of women online and on the rights of online users. The
Chairperson immediately assigned some Senior staff members of the CHRC to work
with CAIWOF in ensuring the success of the National Forum. He also promised to assist
in the printing of a magazine for CAIWOF and to donate some United Nations and
the CHRC communication materials for the National Forum.
The one-hour audience came to an end with the CHRC
Chairperson assuring his guests about the Commission’s participation in the
National Forum and with the handing over of some important documents on the
statements and activities of CHRC. This was followed by group photographs.
